Spring trends #3 : bold colours

Bold, bright colours are very IN this spring. A bold colour piece adds pizazz and fun to any outfit !!! My favourite trend right now is  hot pants! I will admit, I bought my pair of RED skinny jeggings after I saw the same style on my friend ... and it is a worthy investment !!!

One of the ways to wear a pair of coloured hot pants is colour blocking. Colour blocking is wearing bold solid colours together. My version is seen here in my date night look where I'm wearing my hot pants with a solid hot pink jacket ( p.s. you can match red and pink together, as my friend pointed out to me, colours that look good in nature will look good in an outfit). You can also have the hot pants as your accent piece and pair them with a something neutral. I also find red hot pants have a very  rock and roll feel to them, so I try to play it up in my evening, going out look with an edgy leather jacket and metal shoes and purse ( metallic colours are also super on trend right now, two bird one stone :p  )

Having found my red hot pants I then created three looks accenting it: a casual, day time look &  a girly, date night look& something a bit naughty that I would wear in the evening or to go out …

Spring trends #2: Pastel shades

Another trend for this spring is pastel shades. Pastel colors are very romantic and demure; therefore adding a splash of a pastel to any outfit adds a soft feminine touch. You can add a hint of pastel with an accessory (such as purses) or go all-out and have one item of clothing that’s a pastel color and build an outfit around it. I don’t usually purchase a new “trending piece” to create an outfit (unless it absolutely blows my mind), since #1 trends come and go and #2 everything in fashion always gets recycled. So, in theory, I should always have something tucked away in my closet that I can work with… I also find rummaging through my closet a very, very therapeutic process.

ß After some digging around  I found a pair of pastel blue high rise skinny jeggings ( jeggings are the best invention since tights!!!)  that I purchased last year.

Having found my pastel piece I then created three looks accenting it: a casual, day time look &  a girly, date night look& something a bit naughty that I would wear in the evening or to go out …

Spring Trend #1 : bold floral prints

I look for the latest trends everywhere and anywhere. Sometimes it’s an obvious source like fashion magazines or runways, but more often I find myself picking up “the next cool thing” by simply paying attention to an amazing outfit that catches my eye when I’m  out and about ( unfortunately this doesn’t happen too often). My other secret source is , I’m almost ashamed to admit this, the Fashion Police on E! … yes I watch it religiously .  Not only do I get entertained by Joan Rivers’ big filthy mouth but I also get to see what trending at the moment. Afterwards I compile all the information I gathered and go searching though my closet to see if I can find anything that I can update and make new and fresh for this season.

This spring, I noticed that colors and bold prints are incredibly popular, with floral patterns being one of the more prevalent and stylish prints.  I also noticed that the preferred choice to wear floral prints is on pants.

I personally don’t like that much floral print on me, but I do like the pretty  girly vibe that a floral pattern creates.  So armed with this inspiration, I dove into mine (with no success) and then my sister’s closets and found this fantastic top !!! My sister purchased this top from Winners   years ago.

Having found my spring trend peace I then created three looks accenting it: a casual, day time look &  a girly, date night look& something a bit naughty that I would wear in the evening …
